Reasons for trip

Personal / family celebration

Britten House was found for us by a family member since there was a large Dunne family reunion, with the Yacht Club as the hub. First if all, you are amazed to find yourself in the birthplace and home for 20 years, of Benjamin Britten and our hosts, Colin and Ann, had named each room or suite after a composer. We were in the Elgar suite which was so carefully furnished and decorated that one felt loathe to venture out. No expense seemed to have been spared, whether the sumptuous curtains, bed and bedding, carpet, towels, large flat screen TV or sofa. Wi-fi is free. Breakfast is a highlight at Britten House; the smoked haddock and poached eggs so good that I repeated my choice on day 2. Colin is a very witty chap, very laidback and keen to make sure you enjoy whatever Ann expertly prepares in the kitchen. They are full of ideas and information to help you make the most of your stay. In Lowestoft, parking on the street is free, 24h though there is a large empty carpark on the other side of the road. We paid £75 per night and felt that it was very good value for money. Britten House, unsurprisingly, has achieved 5 stars from www.enjoyEngland.com and several other awards.
