Culture/Sightseeing

This is an annual competitive event which provides a day of entertainment for spectators. We watched the event in July 2024 when it took place close to the Liverpool Waterfront. The British Firefighter Challenge really pushes firefighters to their limits. It also raises funds for many of the charities that support the emergency services.
The challenge was not just for men but women too. The gear they were were wearing and carrying was pretty heavy. Various procedures took place : running up to the top of the Crofton Tower and hauling up heavy hoses; hammering the Forcible Entry Machine; dragging the hose – then rolling it up; carrying heavy containers; then dragging a 70 kg dummy to the finishing line. In fact it was all heavy going!
Definitely something different for the spectator. The next Challenge event will take place in Watford on 26th July 2025.If you are in that area don’t miss it!
