BA Glasgow – Nice via Gatwick… booking process straightforward …chose not to pay to select pay to select seats – waited ’till online check in opened 24hrs ahead of departure and was able to select aisle seats (my preference) for both legs of the flight for free. Was surprised to get a pre-flight message extolling the virtues of BA new relationship with M&S food that we can now buy onboard … no freebie coffee (your Java Republic coffee or Twinings tea now costs £2.30) nor snack biscuit any more on domestic/short haul flights … just as well I’d had my ‘quick start breakfast’ at HIX Glasgow Airport :-)…
Revised boarding system at BA gates 19-22 in Glasgow means less seating in the gate 21/22 area – and the ‘snake queue’ arrangement appears to have introduced an element of confusion for gate crew and passengers alike …very cheerful young Scouse lass welcomed us to the rear section of the ‘plane…this two-thirds full flight departed on time … arrived on time only to disembark onto buses to be taken to domestic arrivals, where we had to exit and go back thru security to departures … now – where is the grumpy old men lounge?
More about Gatwick … couldn’t get a good enough O2 data signal in departures for internet access, so connected to ‘Gatwick FREE WiFi’ … but no ‘sign in’ option appeared so still no internet access…. do u need to pay for lounge access to get decent service here? Beginning to look like it!
In anticipation of no included snack or drink on the Gatwick-Nice leg, settled for a Boots ‘meal deal’ of (in this case) sandwich, fizzy water and crisps.
