Reasons for trip

Regular holiday

We booked a Mediterranean cruise with P&O on their latest all whistle super ship about six months before we went on-board … Plenty of time to build up our anticipation of what the experience would be like . Unfortunately for us , the actual experience was ( to say the least ) not as we had envisaged ! The balcony cabin that we had booked was superb . There was plenty of space lots of storage , a comfortable bed , as well as great service . The dining was also superb . The meals were tasty , and we received prompt and efficient service . I think that unfortunately that was it as far as great things on-board were concerned ! Let me tell you of some of the disappointments .The entertainment during the day was somewhat unspectacular . Most of the days activities were either chargeable , or were ‘seminars’ that lead up to a chargeable conclusion . If you wanted to know how to cure a bad back ,or a stiff knee , or a neck ache, somewhere after the first five minutes a hard sell on acupuncture became apparent . There were many ‘how to cure seminars , there all had a common theme of trying to sell some type of Spa treatment . This would have been fine if there had been enough alternatives to attend , but unfortunately there were just a few things spread over the days activities . I remember on previous cruises having to chose which activity to attend out of the many on offer at any time of the day . Here on this ship , what would have been one of many choices per hour was limited to possibly one or two appealing things to do per day ! It was a similar theme with the evening entertainment . On our Thirteen night cruise , there were only Three acts in the theatre that were deserving any form of accolade . The rest were speciality acts that should have had a maximum of twenty minutes exposure before they became tired and repetitive . Good for P&O for giving these acts a chance , but they should have been shown off in the nightclub rather than the Theatre . Incidentally , if one wanted to get a seat in the theatre one had to rush the meal ( we were on first sitting ) and arrive at the theatre at least a half an hour before the show started . I think that although I have by no means finished , this is enough to g on with . We did have a quiet relaxing holiday , but to be quite honest , this was not of our choosing ! Although I am not disabled , I could not but note that the small lifts were not really roomy enough for a wheelchair plus more than maybe five people , so getting a wheelchair on during most of the day was not possible and assisted people were stuck on floors for ages until the queues ended .
