My husband and myself were on a coach tour of Southern Ireland and stayed at the Breaffy House Hotel in Co Mayo for three nights. The building is a large house in the Scottish baronial style which has been enlarged to turn it into a hotel. The grounds are large and lend themselves to evening walks after dinner. We had a warm reception with coffee and scones which was very welcome. Our room was clean and comfortable and the meals were fine, plenty to eat, although the breakfast buffet wasn’t hot enough but that is the case with most hotels. The most annoying thing was that probably because we were a coach party, the three breakfasts and three evening meals which we had in the hotel were taken in three different places.
