These cottages are set in stunning scenery. There are cottages suitable for a range of party sizes, from 6 to 13. Each cottage is very well equipped with TV, Cooking facilities, fridge, microwaves and a good range of crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment. Each bedroom is very confortable, some with a TV, hairdryers and plenty of wardrobe space. Each cottage also has its own hot tub which is checked on a daily basis. There is also a good sized swimming pool, small sauna and a pool table on site. The owners live on site and are very approachable and helpful.
The site is set on a hillside, less than a mile outside the lovely village of Wolsingham.
You could walk during the day but we chose to book local taxis to go out in the evening as the road up to the site is winding and very dark at night.
Wolsingham has a few shops, including a couple of supermarkets, an artisan bakery and a gift shop. There is also a restaurant and a pub (there may be more). The Italian restaurant has a fabulous menu, reasonably priced wine and very friendly staff. We went for coffee outdoors, in the sunshine to check out the menu. We then booked our evening meal and weren’t disappointed. Good food at a reasonable price.
Our Sunday lunch at the local pub was just delicious. Another very welcoming venue.
The area is rural with beautiful views. Plenty of local walks and if you are new to the North East, it’s a great base for driving out to the local tourist sites such as Beamish Open Air Museum.
