Relaxation

My wife and I stayed at this hotel on a four night break with National Holidays early in October 2013. During our stay Scarborough experienced the worst winds I have ever known in UK. The local people with whom we spoke could not remember higher wind speeds in their lifetime. This shocking weather of course had a detrimental effect on our holiday so some aspects were due entirely to this and I shall endeavour to not let them influence my review. Upon arrival the excellent staff had the whole coach load of guests checked in and into their rooms within 15 to 20 minutes, good going by any standard. Our room was on the top floor and our luggage was delivered to the room by the Manager. The room was clean and tidy with everything in working order. The views over North Bay were spectacular. During our stay the room was serviced daily, linen was changed twice over the 5 days. The meals in a lovely dining room were very good with ample choice at all meals. Food was served by very friendly helpful staff and there was always a little extra for guests with a good appetite. Just as important the service was nice and steady with no time wasted between courses. Breakfast consisted of anything from simply cereals or toast, up to full English and was served rather than the buffet scramble at other hotels. As for the location, although my wife and I don’t walk very well, we were in the town centre main shopping street in a comfortable 10 minutes. Well worth the walk with the general mix of high end stores. Local specialist shops, several cafes and restaurants and some very pleasant seating spread about the area for a little rest. Well worth the short walk. There was a decent bus service which we used to return to the Boston. The cliff top location was ideal with a view over the bay, sands and sea, with some lovely walks and seating right on the door step. The family members and staff were all very polite, efficient, and most of all seemed to be enjoying their work judging by the ever present smiles. Evening entertainment was average for this type of holiday, although on our last night there was a guy who was quite exceptional. An all round entertainer, with a good repertoire of songs from the musicals, comedy and some magic thrown in. This one guy alone was worth the price of the ticket as they say. Overall this was a very good holiday at a budget price. Did we enjoy it? Yes undoubtedly. Would we go again? Yes for sure. Well done to the Boston.
