Reasons for trip

There is little free in life – but as we all know, the best things in life are free! Our visit to Bolton Abbey in the Yorkshire Dales provided an opportunity to recharge our batteries and to reflect on the sheer wonder of nature. It is no accident that the monks of Bolton Abbey chose this place as a place of reflection and contemplation – this is a quiet spot in a simply stunning area. With 30,000 acres of countryside and 80 miles of footpaths to cross, we were able to wander freely and without disturbance. We strolled alongside the River Wharfe and crossed it using the famous stepping stones.

To complete our fabulous day out we visited the Pavilion Cafe to enjoy some lovely sandwiches and tea, followed by some tasty Dales ice cream.

A return visit is planned.

OK – it wan't a completely free day – we had to pay to park – but if you want to save the cost – come by bike!
