We recently visited this garden whilst staying in Cheshire. Although a little way away from where we were staying, we were rewarded with enjoying one of the best gardens I think we have ever visited. It was mid August and many gardens elsewhere were looking a little tired after the hot summer, with flowers in borders gone over, but what a refreshing surprise we had at Bodnant. I can honestly say their flower borders were second to none with an amazing array of colour and textures to delight the eye. With 80 acres of gardens to wander through containing 40 UK Champion Trees – the best examples of their kind in Britain – and 130 Welsh Champion Trees, sauntered through enjoying the various vistas created throughout the garden. Pathways wind through gardens and and then you come upon a cafe where you can rest and buy a coffee or ice cream, situated in restored mill, offering activities for children. When we were there, a youth band was playing in the terraced garden while people stopped and listened surrounded by all the lovely flowers. Do look it up on the National Trust website. There are wonderful photographs of the gardens to enjoy. I am so glad we discovered this treasure and we will certainly return again when we can.
