Recently returned from a pleasant two week stay at the Blue Aegean in Kato Gouves, Crete. It is a small hotel of forty rooms built eleven years ago, located in the smallish village of Gouves. It is located about fifty metres from a small, quite grubby beach but there are some nice areas of beach within a ten to fifteen minute walk. There are two swimming pools in the grounds, a small children's pool and a reasonably sized pool for everyone else. The rooms are very good for a hotel of this size, ours had a fridge, microwave small kitchen area in the seperate sitting room, a balcony and double bedroom. We were staying on an all-inclusive basis, which included all meals and snacks and local wines and spirits with mixers and local beer. A bonus was a machine where you can have tea, coffee and hot chocolate all day. We generally enjoyed the food which was varied and plentiful, lots of salads, pasta and choices of food for all meals. There is a little noise from incoming aircraft but no too disturbing. It is a family-friendly hotel and is family owned. We would not hesitate in returning and enjoyed a relaxing stay.
