Reasons for trip

I’d been searching the internet for a place for after theatre nibbles and came across “Bilbao Berria”:http://www.bilbaoberria.co.uk/ advertising modern Spanish dining and suggested it to my friend. She’d also come across it, and we thought it sounded good, albeit slightly expensive, but it was her 60th birthday and so we decided to give it a whirl.

On walking there from the theatre, our conversation went like this:

‘I’ve just realised it must be in the same place as that tapas bar we went to in Regent Street’.

‘Do you think it’s the same one?’

‘No, it can’t be, I’m sure I read this one had just opened’.

‘I think you’re wrong, we’ve definitely been here before’.

This wouldn’t have been a problem except that once inside, we remembered that for some unknown reason we’d not eaten there, but just had drinks. We were asked if we wanted to sit outside and as it was a lovely evening thought it would be a good idea although we had to wait until a couple of chairs were found for the one remaining empty table (there are only five).

We scanned the drinks menu and went for something I’d not come across before: a jug of cava sangria. It came well chilled with ice and lovely pieces of chopped up fruit and it was fabulous to sit out and people watch.

We were fascinated by the comings and goings at a place across the road, at 1 Regent Street, which looked like a restaurant with big wooden doors manned by three dark-suited bouncers at 5.45pm. We googled and it turned out to be Milos, a fish restaurant with £49 three course, pre-theatre menu. Hmm, not one for us.

The restaurant was starting to busy up and we hummed and harred about whether to eat there or not. But because we knew we’d turned it down once before, we decided to head elsewhere. Perhaps on our third visit, we’ll decide to eat there. If you get there before me, do write a review!
