We chose this hotel for its proximity to Olympia and we found a warm welcome after a hard day’s exhibition-going. Apparently we’d been upgraded, and although the room was compact it was very comfortable and clean. The most alarming aspect of the hotel was its lift: a contraption the likes of which I’d never encountered before nor hope to again. The instructions involved waiting for buzzers and beeps at various stages of the operation and holding in the button corresponding to your desired floor for the entire duration of the journey. It was also probably the place wherein somebody had coined the phrase ‘slow travel’. No matter, though, we were agile enough to climb our three flights after that first journey! Considering we were on a main road, it was relatively quiet, and after a good night’s sleep we were pleasantly surprised by the quantity and choice offered at the continental breakfast buffet. Lovely way to start a lazy Sunday morning in the capital!
