Reasons for trip

We picked out this hotel from the Saga brochure for a quiet week in a nice place in the sunshine. The hotel is certainly in a great position on the cliff top overlooking Salobrena, the weather was certainly excellent, but quiet it was certainly not. It seems we hit the end of the season for English/Saga visitors, with the hotel transforming into a venue for Spanish – mostly younger – guests. This primarily involved daily ‘activities’ around the pool – games, loud music, lots of shouting and general noise. We were among several other English/Saga guests who were forced to retreat to the relative quiet of our room. If that’s what you want then fine, but not exactly what you expect from a Saga hotel!

Further, in readiness for their ‘season’, there was a lot of work going on in the hotel resulting in strong, unpleasant smells of paint and solvent. It’s a pity the work didn’t extend to our ‘superior’ room, where both taps and shower were either broken or not working properly. It was half way through our stay – and three complaints later – before something was done.

We still managed to enjoy our week, however, as the hotel is in an idyllic spot. The food in the restaurant was good and the staff very friendly, but I certainly would not recommend older English guests to go there at that time of year.
