We enjoyed our short break at the best Western De Havelet Hotel, which is based up a hill overlooking St Peter Port Harbour and Castle Cornet. The Hotel has a 3 star rating. There is a free minibus service down (and return) to the town a couple of times a day apart from Sundays. I walk with a stick, but I still managed to walk down to the town, but it is steep and the return journey was slow. Our room was large with plenty of storage space, a comfortable bed, 2 chairs and a small table, tv and everything we needed; and the bathroom was huge, there was a walk in shower, a bath with shower overhead plus wc and sink with storage. There is free Wi-Fi and a computer to use in the comfortable lounge area. The receptionists were all helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food was wonderful. There was so much choice at breakfast, cereals, fruit juice, meats, fruit, a variety of cooked breakfasts, and pastries. Afternoon tea is served. You have a choice in the evenings, either go into the bar or go to the Wellington Restaurant upstairs where they serve an a la carte menu. We tried both and were not disappointed in either. There are two sister hotels, and you can dine there if you like. We would definitely go back to the De Havelet.
