Relaxation

This is an unusual hotel, built into the side of the cliff with a road running below it.
I went with Saga but JEt 2 so there were also English families and younger people plus a lot of Spanish families which made a curious but rather nice mix.

I travelled alone but had a huge room overlooking the ocean . It was rather like being on a cruise! Lovely to sit there on the balcony.

One word of warning- I loved the sounds of the waves crashing on the shore at night but some found it irritating.

I just went for a couple of weeks for much needed sunshine and relaxation. Walked into Puerto (about 2-3 kms ) or to one of the many beautiful tropical gardens in the morning followed by a swim and read in the afternoon. I don’t often indulge in those kind of breaks but if you want a holiday as opposed to a travel experience it could be worth looking at.

Some Saga guests went for longer over the winter. I would be bored but if you’re not very active, it would probably be very pleasant to escape the British winter and have some company.

The food was average but good enough. Wonderful salads each day but, as often, the buffet was only warm, not hot, I avoided that but each night there would be freshly grilled fish or meat which were fine.

Lovely grounds with a choice of sitting by the pool, bar, or on a quiet lawn with trees for shade. The latter being my chosen spot.

One disadvantage , at present, is that the road below, along the coast, is shut for refurbishment. However, Saga provide shuttle buses and it really isn’t far to walk into town- just hilly with lots of steps. Also taxis are cheap and plentiful.

A very pretty quiet part of Northern Tenerife. The hotel is actually located in La Paz which is a quiet area with houses, a few hotels, cafes and small shops.

I was there over Easter which was fascinating watching some of the Easter parades.
So , for a bit of gentle winter escapism, pretty good.
