This is a lovely, old character Inn located in a quiet area but accessible to the beautiful Peak District countryside. The staff were very friendly on our arrival showing us to our room. No lift but not too many stairs. There are some ground floor rooms. Our room was to the rear and didn’t have a view, however it was spacious and comfortable with a superb bathroom and spotlessly clean. This inn has a reputation for good food and we certainly enjoyed dining there with delicious meals nicely presented and generous portions. They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and light refreshments throughout the day. To the front outside there is plenty of seating, some covered, and we took advantage of the warm, sunny weather to have our drinks there. There is a large lawn with a children’s play area. Dogs are welcome and it was good to see them having a good time too,
The Inn has a good sized car park and is close to Ashbourne and Buxton on the A515.
Dovedale is only a few minutes away. Also so many interesting villages to visit. Our break went too quickly but we hope to return to explore more of this beautiful area.
