Reasons for trip

The market town of Arundel sits in a steep vale of the South Downs with its restored, re-modelled medieval castle set high on the hill, not far away from the prominent Cathedral.

Arundel, certainly the essence of heritage, is a wonderful place to visit and walk around the independent shops, galleries and try the restaurants.

Only 10 miles down the road from where I live, I recently met up with some friends for a light lunch and decided to try Belinda’s 16th Century Restaurant & Tearooms at 13 Tarrant Street.

When you walk in the door, Belinda’s has an olde worlde charm inside, cosy and warm with a wonderful smell of food. The food is home-made on the premises in their bake house and recipes are traditional.

It was a rather cold day so I chose a hot, delicious butter-nut squash and sweet potato soup, with home-made bread.

Service was good and staff were very pleasant. Prices were reasonable.

The only downside is access for any disabled people with wheelchairs as you have to step down to enter the place.

Certainly a wonderful little place to visit if you are in the town.
