Stayed in an upgrade room in the old manor house, rather than a hotel room. Booked a deal through Secret Escapes, then spent nearly as much again having the upgraded room.
Came with a Nespresso machine – one pod each let day, hardly worth paying for!
Food was good but service and hygiene were poor. The first night, seeing poor service, we ordered our mains and desserts: the brought the latter while we were eating our mains! Then left them on the table to go cold. We weren’t going to make that mistake the second night! We sat for 25 minutes waiting for someone to clear our plates and bring us the dessert menu instead.
Similarly at breakfast there were no place settings and we had to traw .the room looking for cutlery and napkins.
Bar service can’t be charged to your room, even though I had swiped my card on check in.
And my requests for something special for my husband’s 60th birthday were ignored.
