Reasons for trip

My friend & I visited Beamish Museum & thought it was a wonderful experience. It took us back to our childhoods. If anyone has difficulty walking there are plenty of hop on hop off buses & old fashion trams. All along the site are bus stops so the whole experience is so good. The village school complete with classrooms with blackboard, wooden desks &in the school yard hopscotch & mental hoops to try your hand at. The whole site is a complete village from the 1940s onwards. It was amazing to see the pit houses with hens in the back gardens, bread being baked inside the iron oven at the side of a fire. The dentist in the local street showed us how he had to keep using a foot pump in order to use the trill. Most people had their teeth out as it was cheaper than a filling!! Hence why everyone had false teeth. The village Drapery store complete with every item you could think of & well as buttons, ribbon & elastic! We also went down a coal mine with our hard hats & it was amazing to think how the miners worked in such tiny dark tunnels. The local bakery was working & one could purchase hot scones & cakes. There are plenty of eating places scattered over the site. All very reasonably priced. We spent the whole day there & it was such a breathtakingly experience. It will be,remembered for many years to come.
