This B&B was recommended to us by my Italian Auntie who had booked it for other family members last year.

Although not within walking distance of the centre of Parma it was in a quiet location and very reasonably priced (we paid 150 euros for 3 nights per each room which included breakfast – however I think we may have received a discount as my Auntie had booked them before).

The B&B has 3 double rooms all with en suite showers. We stayed in one of the back bedrooms-the only one that has a balcony which overlooked the lovely garden. My parents stayed in the front bedroom which had a smaller en suite. Breakfast consisted of juice, cornflakes, croissants & cakes, toast crackers & jam with tea & coffee. The owner asked my parents what we would like and also what time we wanted to have breakfast.I get the impression that you could ask for specific items and within reason the owner will try and provide them. We were quite happy with cornflakes & a croissant as most days we were eating lunch with relatives. There is only one breakfast room though so presume that is why you are asked about the timings etc.

The décor & furniture was traditional but there was a large flatscreen TV in our room. Everywhere was very clean and plentiful towels were provided. A nice touch was free Wi-Fi that didn’t need any codes etc to access. In the garden there was table tennis (full size) which we used and also a basketball net. There were also a number of bikes but sadly we never had time to use them! After sightseeing one day my husband was sitting in the garden and the owner rushed out to provide a sun lounger which we thought was a nice touch. There are a number of steps to access the property so unsuitable for anyone in a wheelchair although my mother who has walking difficulties managed ok by holding onto the handrail with one hand and using her walking stick.

The front gate has a security lock and there is a nice shady area in the front garden with table & chairs (see photo).

Alla Villa is approximately 20 minutes drive from the centre of Parma and we paid just under 10 euros for a cab back. We did intend to find out about the excellent bus services but never got round to it – partly because our relatives drove us here, there & everywhere and also because we didn’t have the time!

We would not hesitate to stay here again when visiting relatives and would definitely make use of the bikes next time!!

I have ranked it "6" as if on a sightseeing holiday you would want to be nearer the centre of Parma especially as there were no restaurants or bars within walking distance. It was ideal for us as we were mainly there to visit relatives.

Although I have posted a few photos of this B&B you will notice there are none of our room .I must have deleted the photo in error but there are some on the website & on trip advisor.
