My husband and I decided to visit Bathpool park today to have a socially distanced lock down walk with our 5-year-old Yorkshire Terrier Boris. Bathpool is practically on our door step but is an area we rarely seem to visit as we normally have a walk around our other local parks to get some fresh air and to exercise. The nearest town to Bathpool is Kidsgrove.
Parking is free and the park is easily accessible to people with restricted mobility. Ideal for mobility scooter user’s as the area is mostly flat. There are plenty of benches and also picnic tables. The country park is set within 178 acres and provides delightful woodland walks and bridle paths. There is a main lake and several ponds.
We thoroughly enjoyed our walk today with Boris, the lake was glistening in the afternoon sun there were plenty of other people out and about cyclists, dog walkers, a couple of fishermen. The area around the lake is vast, and we walked all the way around the lake, stopping to rest occasionally on one or two of the many benches provided in the park. We accessed the park at the Tunstall entrance. However, there is also an entrance to the park in Kidsgrove. The scenery was very pleasant, and we could even see the dry ski slope which is based in Kidsgrove as we walked around the lake. We even took a few lovely pictures of the area too.
