Reasons for trip

Fortunate to have family in Bath so no accommodation review (wouldn’t dare).
Westonbirt Arboretum wonderful with Magnolia, Rhododendron and Camellia blossom. Free admission with a Friend’s card which admitted 2 grandchildren too. Food good but restaurant serving area redesigned and flow pattern a bit confusing.
Fashion Museum (currently a Georgian exhibition) and Assembly rooms (for once not closed for a function) rewarding. Children’s drawing table a real bonus.

No.1 Royal Crescent splendidly restored since last visit. More rooms accessible. Very informative room stewards. Grandchildren at nearby Crazy Golf.

Museum of Bath Architecture in the Countess of Huntingdon Chapel much more interesting than anticipated and as child friendly as they can make it. Not sure I could actually make a sash window or do significant plastering now but am much better informed. Had previously been unaware of the stone quarry and trackway.

Lunch and tea at Bea’s Vintage tea rooms. The food is definitely ‘rationing over’. Worth a diversion from the centre.

Next day Beckford’s Tower and Museum. Lots of steps up to the Belvedere but a really shallow rise. Volunteers very helpful. Computer game type reconstruction of Beckford’s ride to his home in Lansdowne Crescent riveted the children. Art Card came into its own at all these places.
