We travelled to Barcelona for a 4 day break and to visit our granddaughter who is studying at the university there. (November 2019)
The Jet2 flight from our local Leeds Bradford airport was late morning and perfect timing for us. Perfect flight with no snags and to our surprise, we only had to wait a few minutes for our bags before we were on our way to the Gaudi Hotel which is about 100 metres off Las Ramblas. It was easy to find our way on the local Metro train and not expensive. We settled in straight away and then went up onto the rooftop viewing veranda to see the fabulous sights of Barcelona. Amazing view of the whole city and port.
The next day we did the open-top bus city tour and enjoyed a lovely insight to this beautiful place. It helped us decide where we wanted to see more close-up.
As the weather was lovely, we had a leisurely walk beside the beach the third day and relaxed on the concrete sunloungers that are dotted all along the promenade and then had an excellent lunch at a seafood restaurant near the port.
The nightlife was buzzing, and people of every age were out walking around the shops and generally just soaking up the atmosphere.
I would recommend giving Barcelona a visit to anyone of any age. It is great to see living history and join in with the mass of people who really do know how to enjoy themselves.
