I must have passed this fast food outlet many times while shopping in the Metrocentre, but it was only a special offer voucher which made me try it.
It’s described as a Mexican Eatery, but the waitress’s description, “we’re a bit like Subway”, is probably more at!
The system is that you first of all choose whether you want your food in a burrito or a bowl (I chose burrito) and then the server guides you along all the different foods as you choose the fillings that you want.
My voucher was for a regular burrito, nachos and soft drink for £5, but I seemed to get all the extras that would normally cost 50p a shot added for nothing.
Eventually, rice, beans, salad, guacamole, chicken and chorizo, cheese and several other toppings were piled on the burrito which was then rolled in foil. Wow, I thought, I’ll never eat all that. But I did!
It was tasty and as fast food goes made a nice change from a sandwich or burger.
The sit in area is basic, with easy wheelchair access. It all seemed very clean, although it was also quite empty, with just one other customer, and the staff were pleasant.
The menu includes a vegan burrito and there are certainly plenty of fillings to choose from. Looking on the website, the menu varies in each restaurant and apparently quesadillas are only available in Scotland – no explanation as to why!
There is also a loyalty card scheme and you get a free birthday burrito too when you have registered.
It probably won’t go on my list of regular eateries, but it was good to give it a try.
