Always in search of good food and drink, we found our way to this pub in the centre of Banff. It wasn’t that easy to find – we had to look up on the buildings for its sign, as it’s on the first floor!
Well if you like tasting different beers, and want good quality pub-type food, you can’t go far wrong here. They’ve got a range of different ales on offer. I tried the Head Smashed IPA (it gets its name from a place where the First Nation peoples used to drive buffalo over a cliff to slaughter them) and couldn’t leave without trying a Banff Avenue Blonde (ale, that is!). I accompanied it with an Elk Brewer’s Pie (I like elk meat having had steaks in South Africa) and my wife had a meatball sandwich.
Both beers and food were excellent, and if you like sports, there is a variety shown on their various screens, including Canada’s national sport of ice hockey (we’re becoming fans of Calgary Flames!) and even Premier League football!
