Chose this hotel for its lovely location in the New Forrest and close proximity to the South coast.
Has a certain period charm, the staff are excellent and service very good. We stayed in room 17 which was spacious and had been decorated to reflect a period home, older furniture so if you want mod cons this is not for you. The bed was large but very hard and neither of us slept very well. I did comment at reception on leaving and was advised mattress toppers are available.the bathroom was adequate with a bath with shower and looked to have been updated within the last five years or so. It looks like the rooms at the front of the hotel are much nicer and I guess you pay a bit more for that.the TV in the room was very old and small and we had to get reception to fix it on arrival as both BBC channels had very poor reception.
I booked a package for two nights with a meal on the first night with buy a gift vouchers. I was feeling unwell on the first nice so skipped the evening meal although my wife said it was very good. The breakfasts were wonderful with a great choice of either ordering from the menu or taking advantage age of the buffet.
