Reasons for trip

This is one of my favourite of the Manx Glens and possible one of the most dramatic with the stream falling down the glen through a series of small waterfalls and gorges. A network of rough footpaths run along either side of the glen which is crossed by small bridges. Be warned the paths are not wheelchair or pushchair friendly and not to be recommended for anyone who is unsteady on their feet.

It is particularly impressive after rain, although this can make the path wet and slippery.

The top of the glen can be accessed from Ballaglass Halt (grid reference SC 461 899) on the Manx Electric Railway. The lower part of the Glen can be accessed from the unclassified road from Cornaa Halt which drops down past a car park with map to Cornaa Mill. There is a sign for a permissive footpath on the right (SC 467 897). This crosses the river and gives access to footpaths up either side of the glen. Stay on the left side of the river to come out at Ballaglass Halt. If you stay on the right, the path gets increasingly overgrown at the top and brings you out onto the manx Electric Tramway about 50 yards from the Halt. The nearest post code for both is IM71HF.
