Reasons for trip

Well placed just behind Princes Street the restaurant has strong connections with Kenneth Grahame the author of Wind in the Willows. Well appointed and very lively there is an extensive menu. My partner chose the fish which was extremely fresh whilst I went for the game pie which was huge. Main meals do not come with sides so you may have to order these separately. The wine list is extensive and there is a good selection of local beers. The staff are very chatty and service was quick. However there is no pressure to vacate the table. Desserts were rich but tasty. There is a good section of original cocktails to start with and plenty of different coffees to finish the meal. It does get busy so you will need to book your table beforehand. Also look out for the specials on the board. It is very casual and there were younger and older diners scattered around the different tables. The atmosphere was very upbeat and I would certainly recommend it for an evening meal as it is so convenient and prices are very reasonable for city eating.
