Coming from Halifax, this is at the end of Sheet Harbour, on the right hand side of the road just before the bridge over the river.
This is a 130 year old house which had been built by a ship’s captain. It is on the side of the river and surrounded by large flower gardens. It is a pretty building with pink painted exterior and green window frames.
Our bedroom was on the ground floor and would have been the best parlour, as it was at the front of the house facing the river. It was a cosy bedroom with small bathroom attached. This would be suitable for anyone with limited mobility.
There is a second bedroom upstairs with a shared bathroom.
This was very much a family home and we were made to feel part of the family. We arranged to go and buy food from the large, well stocked Foodland and eat it in the kitchen. Space was cleared on the table and a pot of tea made for us while we chatted to the owners.
This was a delightful place to stay. We enjoyed it and can recommend it.
