Went on other reviews and decided to give it a go. Quirky, charming building and friendly welcome. Madame kindly offered us some homemade cakes (stale) which went to the ducks, and unfortunately presaged things to come. Decor also rather odd…Bedroom VERY green and bathroom very pink with no knob (just wire) on toilet for flushing and heater barely attached to wall..but clean – no complaints there. Though bed not v comfortable….and socket ate our adapter. However cannot recommend more strongly that you avoid dinner. Menu or nothing. Wine by the carafe – filled from a variety of already open bottles kept in the chiller. We know this because although it has a pretty dining room – not full – we were given a table in the annex en the waiter's route to and from the kitchen…by the chiller. Main of beef cooked as a steak (from the thigh it transpired) so tough it was almost impossible to cut, but delicious compared with the cheapest frozen chips which had clearly gone from freezer to deep fat fryer – but not for long enough…. Dessert of creme brulee – stone cold and custard under the topping congealed and separating (perhaps even older than the cakes we were given). We finally complained and were offered an alternative – but almost everything requested was off (sic). And quite bizarre that the buffet of hors d'oeuvres (thank goodness we opted for the fresh salad) was cleared (into the chillers) whilst diners were still on their mains….presumably for serving tomorrow or the day after. At this point we declined breakfast..But trying to lighten the mood asked about the caged bird by Reception -another gaffe. It was a lovebird whose partner had just passed on. Oops.

They are trying to please but cutting so many corners on food that it is so bad it's almost funny, until someone gets ill of course.
