As we missed a night out through work last New year and my reward for almost a quarter century of service to one company is a choice of the sack or a pay cut of £4000+ a year in my final year of service; a good night out at New Year had particular importance. We have used Best Western before and been very satisfied, so when we heard that Aston Hall had been designated a ''Best Western Plus'' we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. The exterior and surroundings were everything you would expect from a Listed property though not seen at their best in winter. From the impressive reception, it is a bit of a trek to the rooms in the newer part of the complex but worth it when you get there. The large, comfortable and attractive room was complimented by the essential, beautifully appointed bathroom with a really good shower(not always the case). The function room was large, stunningly dressed for the party and plenty of room was left between the tables for movement and privacy. The food was very good and the interval between courses was just right so that you never felt rushed. The wine was good if a little pricey. The live entertainment, though not billed as such, was effectively a Michael Buble tribute. Perhaps not everybody's favourite but the interaction with the guests got more people, earlier than we have seen before. Overall great value for money. Just a couple of ''could do betters'': The toilet seat was very fashionable and sleek but the most uncomfortable I have ever used; the staffing in the adjoining bar before the event was poor.
