We’ve seen the sign, for about a year. ‘We must stop there’, but we’ve always been in a hurry. The weather’s bad, we’re on a schedule, we’re tired and just want to get home. This time we stopped and I’m very glad we did.
Described, on a notice at the entrance, as a ‘work in progress’ the café and craft shop is in the Old Strathfillan Church. The parking is at the side of the road, a road that few people use, unless they’re going to the cafe. With the sun shining, several customers were choosing to sit at the tables outside. We chose to sit inside, in the cool. It’s obviously not always cool (depending in your interpretation of the term)- with a stove in one corner for winter days.
The ‘work in progress’ doesn’t seem to mean it’s ongoing during opening hours. The staff tell us of what’s still to be done.
Our coffee and snack was enjoyable and it was hard to resist the lovely home baking on display. They seem to have regular customers, greeting them by name as they came in the door, always a good sign.
The crafts on display are local. Some, if not all, by the ‘Country Mumkins’ who also hold craft workshops.
Ideal stop on the A82, definitely somewhere we’ll be stopping again. Well worth a visit when on holiday.
