Walking

We enjoyed our two week stay at the Cala Galana resort of Menorca. It is in the middle of the island on the south coast and is really beautiful. Our hotel was the Audax wellness (I hate that word) and spa hotel. It is adults only and we travelled with Thompsons. It is a large square hotel at the end of the beach and there is a small parade of shops and an ATM nearby. The hotel has been modernised and this is the first season that it has been for adults only. The rooms are of moderate size, but with a good sized balcony and a large fitted wardrobe. One of the major advantages was that it had a kettle and mugs in the room for the odd cuppa which was a nice touch. There was a free safe and flat screen TV with English channels. There were 2 dining rooms, they had slightly differing start times for meals which added an extra dimension of flexibility for people. One – The Galdana – was more traditional with white tablecloths and the other one – The Oliva was a modern minimalist one with table mats and low lighting. The food was more or less the same in the two rooms, but the Oliva had pizza and pasta freshly cooked. They both had huge buffets and show cooking of both meat and fish. You could not wish for any more choice of food on the buffets than was provided. It was lovely. We do not eat meat, but we had no difficulty finding alternatives. There is music in the bar every evening of differing types. The prices of drinks was quite reasonable not too expensive. There is a nice walk round the bay of about 1km which is nice for an after dinner stretch. The hotel has a spa which looked nice, but we did not partake as it was an extra 22 euros each for 90 minutes so we felt that it was an expense we could not afford. There are two outdoor pools which we also did not use as it was a little chilly in May, but they are up some steps outside and I am not sure if a disabled person could get access to them. We hired a car for our stay as the resort is more or less a beach resort and we do not sit on beaches on holiday we need to be up and doing so we explored most of the island.
