A recently modernised pub in a tiny village just off the A1. An interesting menu combines pub favourites with gastro delights. We had a pie made with beef cheek and beef, and venison loin on champ mash. Very tasty. A bottle of nice wine was only £15. The staff are friendly and efficient. The Apple is very dog friendly. Across the road the sister establishment Apple Core is more continental cuisine featuring pizza and gallettes. They also do take away.
