We arranged to meet some friends in Cambridge and visited Anglesey Abbey for lunch and a nice garden walk. This is a beautiful Jacobean property with lovely gardens and park surrounding the house. Nice formal and informal areas of garden including the lovely and interesting Lode Mill a working water mill open for visits. There is some very nice planting design and the woodland areas were particularly lovely including an area of silver birch which were a recent planting. The autumn cyclamen were looking lovely and I understand there is a lovely winter walk with all the nice winter flowering plants and fragrance which we must go back to see. A really nice day out with good fresh food available in the self service restaurant and a choice of walks around the grounds. Well worth a visit. Check opening times in winter which may only be garden.
