I have just returned from a short cruise on the Anacoluthe up the Seine from Les Andelys through Paris to St Mammes.
This vessel is rated as 3* but this shortcoming is overcome by the pleasant professional and cheerful manner of every member of the staff and crew who try the utmost to ensure that you have memorable holiday. The cabins are comfortable and well maintained; although, as expected are small, are one of the best of their type that I have experienced on river cruisers. The overall standard of the food was high; the selection of wines and the evening meals were consistently excellent. The barge’s English guide through a fascinating series of onboard talks and trip commentaries gives an exceptional insight into France, the Impressionist artist and the French barging community. You should be aware of the steep rake of the steps leading down to the cabin deck. If you want to gain a fascinating and memorable insight into the middle Seine and the Impressionists I thoroughly recommend a trip on the Anacoluthe to you.
