We stayed 3 memorable nights at this wonderful old heritage building. Of the 10 hotels we stayed in on our month long trip around Rajasthan, we rated this hotel equal 1st. Because of my mobility issues we had asked for a ground floor room, and had a wonderful room, with a fantastic view of the City Palace opposite. In fact other than the rooms in the main block, the whole hotel and restaurant were accessible.
Enormous comfortable bed, and wonderful window seat in our room. You could almost touch the waters of Lake Pichola. Nice terraces overlooking the lake, and garden. Smallish pool with sun loungers, but fine.
Hotel restaurant – the Ambrai, one of the best in Udaipur, served excellent a la carte meals in the open air overlooking Pichola lake and the floodlit Palace. The location is an irresistible photo opportunity. A great advantage of being a resident at the hotel is that not only were we always able to get a table, but they were always at the water’s edge.
Access to the hotel is through the narrow streets of the old town, so although you can get there by car, there are no coach parties. Wide range of tourist shopping opportunities immediately outside the hotel entrance.
Wonderful memories and a fitting way to finish our holiday. We hope to be back.
