Our 40 member ski club flew American Airlines from Newark Liberty to Phoenix with a connecting flight to Reno. On February 9, the first leg was 15 minutes late for the connecting flight. That made us late for our flight to Reno. We were told to run through Phoenix airport to catch the next flight. No jitneys or wheelchairs were provided. As we raced through the airport, the loud speaker system was blaring “Flight 5785 doors closing in one minute.” We were still far from Gate B 20, having landed at the C terminal. Although all of us made it, our luggage and skis were not loaded on the plane. We were told by a flight attendant that our belongings would make the plane too heavy. When we landed in Reno, minus our skis and baggage, we had to stand in line while a very disgruntled airline employee issued vouchers for ski rentals on the following day. Because it took two hours to do this, our bus was not able to go through the mountain pass to Lake Tahoe.
