For an overnight stay when flying in and out of London City Airport, the Aloft London Excel is an excellent choice. To get to the hotel via the DLR seems a bit of a roundabout route, but if you have any luggage, then the short walk seems just too long! The hotel looks unusual both from the outside and the inside. Very quirky, but very comfortable. The (frosted) glass wall between bathroom and bedroom provides some entertainment when your partner is showering! The hotel has a laid back atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It is only a few steps to the DLR station and you are straight into the east end of London. It is joined to the Excel, so it would be perfect if you are attending an exhibition there.
