Before a matinee at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, we decided to lunch at “All Bar One”:https://www.allbarone.co.uk/national-search/london/all-bar-one-leicester-square?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=gmb in Leicester Square for several reasons: it was just around the corner, had a large outdoor terrace and reasonable “menu”:https://www.allbarone.co.uk/national-search/london/all-bar-one-leicester-square/foodmenu.
Arriving on the dot of noon, just as it was opening, there were already people in the queue. We used the NHS Covid App, and having sanitised hands, were shown to a small table. By 12.10pm virtually all the tables for two had been taken by couples either having a drink or lunching.
Service was initially efficient with the young girl going around each table in turn taking the orders on her tablet, with the drinks been delivered by other members of staff. We had a pint of cider and an Old Mout Pineapple and Raspberry cider which tasted better than it sounds.
We waited and waited for our food which eventually arrived after 40 minutes and a couple of reminders – the kitchen were obviously a little slow off the mark.
We’d chosen three dishes from the ‘small plates and sharing’ section – 3 for £18. We opted for halloumi and chorizo skewers with a tomato salsa, fish goujons with saffron aioli, and two types of hummus served with homemade tortilla chips. All were fine and not too heavy which meant I didn’t fall asleep in the play! If the food on the photos looks a little sparse, it’s because I forgot to take the photos until half way through!
It was easy to get attention when we wanted to pay and it’s certainly a good place for a reasonable lunch. Inside there is a large area on both the ground and first floor for when the weather is not so good.
