Reasons for trip

We have just returned from our Daughter’s wedding in Montreal. We had to fly Air Canada as they were the only airline offering direct flights to Montreal. We usually travel from Manchester as we live in Lancashire, however flights from Manchester flew via Frankfurt, which we did not want, so we drove to Heathrow Airport. Canada is closed to tourists at present, so we had to show birth certificates, wedding certificate and a copy of our daughter’s Canadian passport at check in. When we set out we had no idea whether we would be admitted into Canada. Well we made it. On the outbound flight there were 21 passengers on the plane and slightly more on the return. The cabin crew were very good. However, food is awful – a cold meal with no choice and no special dietary needs. By chance, I discovered that Air Canada have the menu available a week before the flight, so I bought a meal deal at Heathrow Airport departures, On the outbound flight it was feta and chickpea salad. The return flight was aubergine parmesan [like vegetable lasagne], which the cabin crew apologised for as it is supposed to be served hot. I had eaten a substantial lunch prior to travelling to Montreal Airport.

Should you travel long haul please check the meal situation as I think we encountered the norm. As so few people are travelling you get through Border control and security safely and quickly. Do not be afraid to travel.
