A not to be missed wonder. Open from 8am to 8pm daily, this is best visited early morning or late evening to avoid both the heat and the crowds, Good footwear advised as there is a bit of climbing. Entrance is about 12 euro but this ticket does include entrance to some other sites that cluster around the North & East sides of the Acropolis (Plaka). Most disappointing was the amount of scaffolding etc that surround the Parthenon and other buildings due to a huge restoration project plus, if you make a morning visit you have the noise of the work shattering the atmosphere. I am glad that I have done it but I found a " more sense of the ancient" from the neighbouring sites. I didn't visit the nearby newly built Acropolis museum on this occasion. To avoid disappointment the best views of the Acropolis are at night (when it is well lit) from virtually anywhere in the City preferably a rooftop restaurant or bar.
