It calls itself a hotel but it is really a small guest house and does B & B. The location is in a quiet residential area just below Table Mountain in Montrose Avenue, Oranjezicht. You might like to be made aware that there is a steep flight of steps up to the front door and then more stairs up to your bedroom and no lift.
Our room was very pleasant, comfortable, impeccably clean and quiet. We received a very warm welcome on arrival and immediately felt relaxed and at home. We didn't have to think about what to do on the first day we arrived as Bernd organised the booking of the cable car up Table Mountain and suggested a restaurant for dinner on the Waterfront which was wonderful after a long flight. If fine, breakfast is laid up outside by the small pool. All nationalities seem to use the Acorn and so breakfast caters for all tastes and is buffet style except for the cooked dish – the selection was magnificent! We would have liked tea/coffee available in our room but their philosphy is that visitors are on holiday and they want to do everything for them. Tea/coffee will be provided – you only have to ask and there is no charge. There were local papers available each morning. We were provided with a weather forecast on our pillow on day one and there were other little messages or treats left each night. There was plenty of hanging space and shelves to put our clothes and mirrors in all the right places. There was a hairdryer and sockets to recharge batteries of mobile phones, cameras etc. They happily permitted us to check for emails on their computer and could not have been more helpful with advice on what to see and do in the area. They really bent over backwards to ensure that our stay was a success and we would definitely recommend this little guest house.
