First leg (Naples-Gatwick) boarded by bus from the non-Schengen gates and departed on time. Aircraft had only one toilet serving the 21 economy rows, so inevitable queues (which did get me out of the seat for longer than expected).

Arrived late (headwinds was the explanation).

Flight connections meant we were stuck with an overnight hotel stay at Gatwick.

Gatwick to Glasgow check-in and bag drop was slow (we hadn’t been able to print boarding card due to being ‘in transit’ when online check-in opened) so had to use the staffed desks, unlike our outbound flight earlier in the week when we used the ‘tag your own bag’ facility) – though there weren’t many in front of us in the queue.

Flight boarded and pushed-back on time.

So: due to the necessity for connecting flights, combined with an early departure time on our outbound flight – in order to spend two full days in Sorrento, we left home on Sunday and got back home late Friday. afternoon.

We were taking advantage of reduced pricing by using most of our remaining BA Avios points but, as mentioned elsewhere, we’ll be looking much closer at competitors offerings in future.
