UK domestic Economy, and Euro Traveller class passengers, no longer get complimentary food/drink on flights. Instead you have to select from their M&S food brochure – similar to buying on EasyJet/Ryanair. You can pay using ‘major charge, credit or debit cards’ or Avios points. But not Solo, Electron or Maestro debit – nor cash or pre-paid cards.. One of those wee bottles of wine/spirits that were there for the asking will now set u back £4.50. Tea/coffee £2.30. Various sandwiches and snacks available, as is beer and soft drinks.

To pay using Avios youu need to download the BA App or, if Executive Club Bronze or higher, you can pay using your Executive Club card (option not open to basic ‘blue’ level card holders).

Might as well buy a ‘meal deal’ in Boots or WH Smith and take it onboard? I did the Boots option on my first BA flight since this new procedure was introduced. Tried the M&S offering on the return flight – didn’t think their bacon butty was any better than the EasyJet bacon baguette.

I tried that at Malaga airport and although there were a lot of cafes, it took me ages to find somewhere to buy a baguette to take on board with me. I think the Boots meal deal spoils you....

ESW - well. I've been in the habit of doing that when flying EasyJet/Ryanair - on the outbound flight but, when coming back from the continent I'd often buy the onboard stuff, just as I did with my recent BA flights ... thinking I'll need to explore the continental airport options further!

I'm mean and always buy a Boots Meal Deal before boarding!
