SU29 is a small, boutique hotel in Valletta, Malta which we booked through Booking.com for a one-night stay. We were already staying in Gozo for 3 weeks, but as the opera performances had been cancelled, we were able to get free seats for the 3 Tenors concert in Valletta on 9th October so needed to stay overnight.

It is a typical Maltese townhouse, very narrow building with one guest room at the front and one at the back with lift and stairs in the centre. Though not too impressive from the street, it was surprisingly bright, modern, a bit Baroque in style, with all the modern extras you need. The walk-in shower in the bedroom is big enough to hold a party in, with the toilet and washroom down four steps from the bedroom to the entrance door. It was a lovely comfy, roomy bed and an impressive breakfast.

I would stay here again as it is in the very centre of the city, but there are too many steps in the city streets for my husband, Leslie. SU29 is halfway down the flight of steps that is St Ursula Street, hence the name. If you get to the gates of Barrakka Gardens and the battery, turn left down the lane/steps. Look out for a big hotel sign high-up on the wall – ASTI – as you are almost at SU29 then.
