This has been a tough couple years and this would be exactly what we need. I’m kind of out of sorts I lost my mother I found out I have osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Thanks for the opportunity I wish everyone the best.
Visiting towns and city’s with my husband from the top of Scotland to bottom of England would be just amazing
We had a fabulous day out wine tasting at the Rathfinney Estate, learning lots about the vineyard and the wine making process and enjoyed a meal at their Flint Barn restaurant. It is set in the beautiful South Downs
Never been on a rail holiday it would be an adventure always fancied York but with one thing or the other because of health issues never got the chance .

Went to York a couple of years ago. Second day of the trip I developed a heavy dose of flu. Only got out of my bed to drag myself to the railway station for the journey home. Didn’t see anything of the city and would love to try again.

Have often thought about visiting Newcastle as it seem such a vibrant & interesting city.
I would love to visit York as it’s somewhere in the UK that I have never been. The past couple of years have been really hard, my partner broke his hip during the pandemic and has been unwell ever since, culminating in him having a car accident and breaking his back in two places a month ago. Looking after him is becoming hard work and we could really do with something nice to look forward too.
I would visit Scotland and see as much of it as I could fit in! In 2015 my husband and I had booked a rail trip to Edinburgh to see the Military Tattoo but couldn’t go as he was ill so I would like to try again. I have previously visited Scotland when my children were young, and I have many happy memories. We were in a rickety old camper van, but it was fun!
I have toured Italy by train, so I know it is a great way to travel. The views from the window can be spectacular and, unlike on a coach or in a car, you can get up and stretch your legs!
Would love a trip to Bristol & possibly on to Cardiff too. Too many places still to visit
I’ve always fancied taking a railway tour of Scotland. There must be so many out of the way places to visit that people would seldom see.
We would love to visit Brighton again, such a lovely place with lots of little alleyways to explore. Going by train would be a real treat for my husband who normally does the driving. ‘Let the train take the strain’.
Hubby and I have always wanted to travel on the Caledonian Sleeper. We live in Lancashire so this would also fund our journey down to London as we’d love to do the full journey. 2023 us our 45th wedding anniversary so it would be the ideal time to go.
I would like to go to the Lake District by train to save the long car journey to avoid the traffic on M40/M6 which is getting worse.

What a lovely to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary. I would like to travel up to the North West and spend a few days on the Wirral, then up to Blackpool and Morecambe, then up to the Yorkshire Dales for a few dales then carry on up to the Scottish Isles maybe pick up a small cruise ship to go round the Isles. I would love to visit Tobermory and the Isles of Mull. What a relaxing way to travel.
I would take a UK Rail Break to Montrose and watch the thousands of migratory birds, especially the pink footed geese. It is a wonder of nature.

I would love to visit the Lake District again. My late husband and I used to visit every January – yes, in the Winter! At this time of the year there are fewer crowds and the bare trees allows the views to open up. It is amazing just how much colour can be seen in Winter. I have not been for a number of years now as the long drive from the South on my own puts me off this journey. Train travel would be an amazing adventure.

What a great way to beat those winter blues by having such a fun win to plan, especially during these troubled and changing times. Scotland by rail has always been on my bucket list so I would definitely use this as my opportunity to visit…my imagination is already working overtime, it’s a bit like buying a lottery ticket when you’ve planned what you’re going to do with THAT win….lucky person who wins this one, hope it’s me of course!
I would like to travel the whole length of the country, from top to bottom, as far as possible by rail. Starting from John O’ Groats I would head to Lands End via Thurso and Penzance, stopping off at several places on the way.
I enjoy train rides and have always fancied going on the Orient Express but it is too expensive. However, I would be very happy to win the voucher for UK Rail Breaks and to enjoy the train journey and then stay in one of our cities – possibly Glasgow or Newcastle. There are so many places still to visit in the UK and the nice thing about the train, (when they are running), is that they take the strain out of a long journey. I’d do one of two things go north (we live towards the centre of the country in Cheshire) and travel up to Edinburgh and have a a great time sampling their wares or go south down to Cornwall and look at travelling across to the Isles of Scilly which on paper looks enchanting
I recently experienced the ease of a long train journey via Eurostar from London to the Netherlands. Around three and a half hours, with no hassle (like an airport) at St Pancras security. My health is now, not as it was, so rail travel in the UK would indeed be an excellent way to visit the many cities not visited before, in a relaxing manner at a time of choice. Indeed, a wonderful prize.
It’d be the West Coast of Scotland for me – via Loch Lomond and on to Fort William, then the Jacobite to Mallaig – what a Stay Cation that would be!

I love train travel. I’ve had some amazing experiences. A sleeper train on New Years Eve in Vietnam was the least comfortable but the most fun. Cairo to Alexandria was also fun, but mainly as the ‘trolley’ person made an instant coffee in a plastic cup with such aplomb, and a battery operated whisk for that all important froth! Travel in Europe – Florence to Venice, Paris to Marseilles, around the Peloponnese in Greece. Naples to the Lakes on a fine February day. It has never occurred to me to look at a UK rail break, what a great idea! I think Scotland lends itself to this mode of travel brilliantly. York to Edinburgh on a slow itinerary sounds perfect to me.

You could choose to go somewhere in the UK far away from home whereas previously the cost of rail travel might have been a deterrant – now, there would be no excuse for heading towards Land’s End or John O’ Groats!

I live in Jersey and have been trying to get to the UK since the begining of Covid, I have now lost my job due to ill-health and would absolutley love to win a train travel holiday (we don’t have trains in Jersey so it would be a really good adventure)
My father died in May and I would love to go to Torquay, his birthplace, to visit all my extended family there. I live in Perth, so it’s a long train journey away and this would be just perfect. He was 97 and hadn’t been well enough to return and see his brother for some years, so I’m sure he would have been happy if I could go now.
My granddaughter has been to Edinburgh by train and loved it, both the journey and stay. As she put it to me “ just do it Grandma, it’ll be amazing “ so I’ll be taking her advice.

i would love to interrail around Europe
Our first grandchild has arrived ! We live in Oxford, England but our expanding family live in Plymouth in South West England. We love travelling by train and so we would be delighted to meet and greet our grandchild with a scenic train trip. We would stop off at interesting and exciting Bristol, and then enjoy the rural sights of Somerset and the scenic river Exe. We would get excited when the coast appears, as this train journey hugs the coast after Exeter and then we would enjoy more rural views as we travel through Devon and finally roll into Plymouth station. We could spend several days in Plymouth cuddling the new arrival, and annoying our son and daughter-in-law in law, as we give advice they will not need (as they are more than capable of making their own decisions on child care, I am sure !). They can drop us off at Plymouth station with relief, as we return home, via Nailsea, just before Bristol, and visit our friends there. We will return to beautiful Oxford with travel and family tales to share.

I’ve wanted to go back to Edinburgh for years. I went for work but didn’t get to see much. I’d like to see Edinburgh Castle, Arthur’s Seat and do some Harry Potter stuff. A walk along Princes Street too. Taking the train would make a long journey so much easier.

The best part about a journey to a holiday destination is spending ages deciding where to go and by which route and I have spent some time making my mind up about this `dream trip` and finally decided on a rail trip to Penzance as driving to Cornwall from Kent is a nightmare; but I’d like to do it during the day so I could look out of the window all the way (no sleeper train for me!). But Penzance wouldn’t be my final destination. I’d then get the helicopter to the Isles of Scilly for a few days’ island hopping – turquoise seas, white sand, birds, flowers, fresh fish – before the journey home, but sitting on the opposite side of the train.

I think the Highlands would be my first choice to visit by rail, as far up north as they go. The scenery is stunning and to take it all in whilst relaxing on a train has got to be the best way.

Edinburgh for me. A friend went up by train and it just sounds like such an easy journey compared to flying up. Going near to Christmas and wandering around the markets is just my cup of tea. Then back to a hotel for a warm bath and some hot grub!!!

Would love to just hop on and go for a few visits to places with my other half. We keep saying we want to visit all these places in the UK so this would really help with that.
Ooh I love a train journey. So many lovely places to visit in the UK. I live in North London giving me easy access to the whole of the UK. The hardest thing is deciding where to go. Maybe I should start with A for Aberdeen.

I love travelling anywhere on trains but my first choice would have to be London, there is so much to do and see.
Would use to visit family, I don’t get to see often enough, as we are spread out round the UK.
I would love to visit Windermere with my sister, it would be a lovely treat, with lots of nice scenery,shops and restaurants, not forgetting all the fabulous walks

I would like to visit Bath it looks such a pretty city and the spa baths look amazing. I think Christmas time would be lovely with the Christmas markets.

There’s something lovely about going on the train, you see so much more when you aren’t driving.
Watching the landscapes change as you whizz along, and you don’t have to worry about parking!

I would love to take a train to Mallaig, spend some time on the silver sands of Morar, which I last visited when I was eighteen, explore the islands and enjoy the beautiful sunsets and scenery.
Well we would ‘walk’ 500 miles by beautiful train from Ayr to Portsmouth to visit my son who is in Royal Navy phase 2 training at HMS Collingwood. We miss him very much and would love to travel down to this beautiful part of the world on a surprise visit.

I would use it to visit the south coast where we love to go on holiday. It is such a long drive so would love to be able to afford rail travel.
Train from Kings Cross to Inverness then onto Thurso. Then back down to Inverness and across to the Kyle of Lochalsh. Pop over to the Isle of Skye to start the return journey to Mallaig and down the West coast of Scotland and England. A Lovely long trip, taking in some of great scenery in a big loop.

i would love to take a rail journey all around scotland, there are some many wonderful sights to see and so many places. I travelled by car with my late husband but as i have sight problems i cant do that anymore so to travel by rail would be fantastic

I live in Cornwall and try to get to London at least every two years. Haven’t been in four years due to Covid and can’t wait to get back. National Art Gallery, Hyde Park, shows, shows and more shows. A rail ticket would mean I’d be able to stay in our fantastic capital a couple of days longer.
