As an avid independent solo worldwide traveller, I have finally reached the age/stage of needing a fuss-free travel option. To embark from UK with so many options of ports, to not worry about luggage or changing currency, to have a tour but stay in same “hotel resort” – all this is a wonderful bonus as I approach mid 70s age. Then of course the standard of the “hotel resort” is so important and Ambassador seems to have nailed it. The final advantage is the consideration of the solo traveller pricing. Well done! Now comes the difficult part – where to go. A circumnavigation of Iceland for a spot of whale-watching would be the icing on my dream maiden cruise.

It would be great to indulge in a luxury cruise; my previous experiences have been decidedly budget-conscious – fine when one is young, but not such fun when one is older. I would love to revisit the Mediterranean, and soak up culture as well as sun. Solos are rarely pampered, and this sounds just the ticket.

Having had a bad experience as a very sea sick young adult sailing through the Bay of Biscay in a gale force 9 (many, many years ago!), I’ve always wanted to try a cruise again. Obviously I’ve been reluctant to book one just in case the same happened again – although I know sea sickness med’s have improved greatly, if I did need help to get my sea legs! This would be an ideal way for me to re-try cruising!

In 1967 I was an Exchange Student in Michigan and due to fly New York/Keflavik/Glasgow in one journey. We had engine problems and spent twenty-four hours in Iceland. I’d love to see how it’s changed in the intervening fifty years!

I’d even squeeze in the Outer Hebrides if I could…….I have a very long standing interest in the Vikings, and, as a one time canoe sailor, am fascinated by the voyages they made in beautiful longboats. No longer able to canoe sail, my other half sailed off to Valhalla, and, those long Viking trips would be far too challenging…….but, in the comfort of Ambassador – yes please……and all that time at sea, plenty of knitting 🙃

Ive completed many long haul holidays mainly to visit family so a ‘solo cruise’ would be a completely new experience. At my age (84) a bit of pampering would be very welcome and the chance to meet and make new friends excites me. Cruising is wonderful for older folk who can thoroughly enjoy all that a ship has to offer or just to be quiet and to love the peace and tranquility while looking for whales, flying fish and dolphins. Excursions give the chance to see a little something of someone else’s culture and way of life before climbing back on board to remember what you have seen during the day and to be so grateful for this fantastic opportunity.

Spain/Portugal every time. The coast of the Iberian peninsula is both varied and utterly spectacular. So much to admire and to experience and with almost inevitably good weather it would be something to remember always.
I did an Inter-rail trip in the autumn (first time since the 1980s!) which reminded me of the joys of ‘slow travel’ – as well as the environmental benefits of not flying everywhere. A cruise to wherever would be the next slow and green travel adventure, it’d be grand.
If it were possible, I would cruise out to the South Pacific during our summer & visit Fiji, Tonga, Samoa & Vanuatu. I would hope to be able to stay at each island nation for at least 2 days.
It would also be good if I didn’t have to get to Tilbury for embarkation. From Scotland this adds a lot to the difficulties of getting to the port.

To me, a cruise is half about the destinations and half about the on-board experience and the opportunity of meeting like minded travellers. Living in the Scottish Borders, I would propably opt for a cruise leaving from either Newcastle or Dundee to save long distance travel and, while warm is good, other destinations are already getting me excited. I love travel its exciting to pack your case and passport. My last oversea holiday was in 2019 I went to Kos solo. Lovely little family hotel. My favourite place to travel to is the Eastern Mediterranean , Greece, Islands and Turkey.

As someone who has not experienced a cruise but likes to visit different places a cruise seems the perfect getaway. There are so many different cruises to experience so a Mediterranean cruise would be the ideal way to experience both a cruise and visiting a number of interesting places.
I have been resistant to cruises before, but the prospect of a visit to Iceland, about which I’ve read so much, is irresistible

Love to go to Costa Rica and Panama.
I did a lot of solo traveling, before I met my husband, then it was couple’s holidays followed by family holidays and then couples holidays again. I’m delighted to say also, last year I revoked my passion for Solo Travel and I visited the amazing city of Cairo in June.
Solo travelling by Luxury Cruise Ship, has opened a new world and adventure cruise around the Mediterranean would be lovely.
I’ve always wanted to see the Norwegian Fjords and Iceland.
I have only been on a four day river cruise and would love to go on any of Ambassador’s voyages. If I am lucky enough to win I would choose a cruise in the Mediterranean or the British Isles

Norwegian Fords would be amazing as there’s so much to see
After losing my husband of 51 yrs. I would like to dip my toe in the water and cruise again. Our last cruise was on Fred Olsen to Madeira, which I love, but if I am lucky enough to win this prize I would love to go to see the Northern Lights as it has been an ambition of mine. I fear this will be my only chance to see the Lights as I normally can’t afford the single supplement.

Somewhere with both quiet beauty spots and cultured towns, Italy and Greece have the perfect combination of the rwo – Sicily has both Italian and Greek together.
I’ve never been on a sea cruise: I’m a terrible sailor, I’ve sat on deck in all weathers as close to the centre as possible of many vessels (channel ferry, boat to the Isle of Man, Chatham to Southend on a paddle steamer) in order to travel on open water at all. I’d love to see the Northern Lights but the prospect of so much time at sea puts me off. However, I would like to attempt a cruise around Britain from Tilbury and peraps there would be enough distractions on the ship to keep my mind off sea-sickness.

On 29th July 2023 Ambassador’s flagship, Ambience, will embark on a 7-day ‘Motown meets Rock ‘n Roll Legends’ cruise around Scandinavia. Headline acts include Kiki Dee, the Soul Sisters and Ben Portsmouth, winner of the Worldwide Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest. For a totally unreconstructed Baby Boomer like me this is my idea of heaven: an interesting cruise in the company of like-minded travellers with a fantastic concert every night. And the icing on the cake is that the itinerary includes Aarhus in Denmark which offers an opportunity to visit the nearby world-renowned ‘Memphis Mansion’ Elvis Presley Museum! Who could ask for more? But unfortunately by the time I heard about this great cruise there were no inside or ocean-view single cabins left and a long wait list for any cancellations. I had quite literally missed the boat! So Silver Travel Advisor and this competition are my only hope for this once-in-a -lifetime trip….

Thank you for the opportunity to enter such a great competition. I have never been on a cruise. I would like to go on one while I still enjoy travelling solo and have the health to do so. My choice would have to be Norway. The idea of actually sailing through the fjords and experiencing those sights in person makes my heart quicken. I would love to do a cruise around the British Isles as the ship visits many places I’ve always wanted to go but have not yet done so – and probably won’t now as my husband died during the Pandemic.
Take me to the Amazon, float me through the rain forest on the waters of one of the world’s greatest rivers. I long to see the forest wildlife, jaguars, sloths and caimans to name but a few. I long to see the amazing colours in the sky as scarlet macaws fly overhead. Will pink river dolphins play along side the boat? Will red howler monkeys wake me in the early morning? Maybe I will get to see an anaconda or two. I hope so. I truly hope so.

Booked France and Spain on Ambient’s maiden voyage from Dundee in May on the basis that Ambassador Cruises are almost a reincarnation of our favourite cruise line Cruise & Maritime Voyages. Here’s hoping Abassador are up to CMV’s high standard.
Any cruise would be lovely as there are so many interesting places to visit and it would be a great life experience.
Having organized many women’ adventure trips in New Zealand & Europe, and not having a travel companion type husband, I am always seeking out adventures I can do in a group or sola….so this Cruise Line has really inspired me. I often spend a month in fall in Europe, so would welcome the chance to give this a try – Mediterranean please! And if it works well, shall bring along my women’s group on a subsequent cruise!

I went to Dubrovnik in Yugoslavia back in 1973. I haven’t been back since and as I am unable to fly a cruise around the Mediterranean Sea with a stopover in Dubrovnik would be ideal.

I am not the most intrepid seafarer – a choppy bath makes me a bit green! Thus I think a cruise around the Med in summer would be my best option. Norway and Iceland and even the North Sea sound a bit fearful. Being able to board in GB is a definite plus – much more “green” one supposes. Flying these days is such a chore and so far from the glamorous flights of the sixties that I remember so well. Great prize it has to be said though I do wonder what my better half would say if I won this. I might have to buy a giant Louis Vuitton trunk to smuggle her on board!
For sheer luxury and an unhurried way to travel I would go anywhere in the world with Ambassador.

Having cruise for many years on many different cruise lines I am delighted to see that Ambassador Cruise Line are catering for the solo travellers. For so long cruise companies have only catered for double occupancy on their ships. We are downgraded as many many singles are excluded from enjoying the experience of cruising due to the supplements. Therefore, it would be a pleasure to experience this leading cruise line in Europe or the Far East

It’s a journey that crosses continents, cultures, religions and charts millenia of man’s endless quest to explore or conquer, from the Crusades to the migrants risking life and limb to travel from Morocco to Spain. The cruise would take me from the colourful tip of Africa to the thriving hub of Southampton in just a few days full of good food, pleasant company and well-deserved rest. To home.
