Solos Holidays’ Golfing breaks for singles

Known for their excellent singles holidays in the UK and overseas with ClubSolos offering hotels and yachts exclusively for their guests, Solos Holidays actually started life as a golf holidays company over 40 years ago. So they know a thing or two about what makes a singles’ golf break successful, whether you are a beginner or have an impressive handicap. And of course, everyone who joins one of these trips has golf in common, so that makes for easy conversation and like-minded companions.

Good to know about golf holidays

Every Solos’ golf holiday has a dedicated tour manager to ensure everything runs smoothly: evening get togethers are planned, tee-times are confirmed, fun, social and team scoring competitions are organised and any logistical issues are sorted out. And every guest has their own room, either double or twin, for sole occupancy, so if you’d like a little peace and quiet, you can have it. Many of hotels you stay in have swimming pools and spas, ideal for a little extra R and R.

Golf clubs hire can be arranged on some breaks so do be sure to ask. And buggies, trolleys etc can often be hired locally too: check your chosen holiday for full details. Take a look at your household insurance policy to see if your golf clubs are insured whilst out of the country.

Golf holiday festival weeks

These take place in the spring and autumn in the UK and overseas, bringing players together for three days of friendly team competitions, followed by two days of an individual Stableford competition to find the week’s overall winner for both men and women. A great way to polish up your game before aiming for the top of the leader board.

Golf holidays in Greece

The island of Corfu, lush and very pretty, offers reasonably experienced golfers rounds at the Corfu Golf Club. It’s not for beginners, however no handicap is needed. You’ll stay at a quality beachside hotel with water sports and a spa, on a half board basis where there’s choice of three restaurants.

Golf holidays in Portugal

A country much loved by golfers for its superbly designed championship courses and good year-round weather. Stay at the Hilton Vilamoura Golf and Spa Resort, the Penina Hotel & Golf Resort at Portimão for Christmas and New Year or the 4* Vila Gale in Lagos. Rooms can be upgraded if you wish, for an additional cost. All golfers on these breaks need a WHS Handicap max 38 or below.

Golf holidays in Spain

Enjoy a sun winter trip to Gran Canaria’s excellent courses overlooking the sea or try Fuerteventura for a relaxing golf break. Andalucia is a favourite for the seaside course at Almerimar Golf Hotel, with a pools complex and near the beach. If Jack Nicklaus courses are top of the list, the La Torre Golf Resort Costa Calida offers the opportunity to play on three of the best! These trips are for handicap players only with WGS Handicap Index max 38 or lower.

Golf holidays in Turkey

Belek is certainly a popular destination for a golf enthusiasts. All Solos Holidays here require a WGS Handicap Index max 38 or lower. For those who enjoy Nick Faldo’s courses, a week’s break at the Cornelia Diamond Golf Resort & Spa gets you onto the greens, at the Cornelia Faldo Golf Course. Other golfing breaks at Voyage Belek Golf & Spa, Sirene Belek Hotel and Kempinski The Dome Resort offer exquisitely maintained and designed courses, including the PGA Sultan Golf course.

Golf holidays in the UK

For a short break closer to home, and for non-handicap players, the Telford Hotel & Golf Resort provides two days of golfing pleasure as does the Breadsall Priory Marriott Hotel & Country Club in Derbyshire, where the addition of a driving range might help you hone your skills. Or you might like to try the St. Pierre Marriott Hotel & Country Club near Chepstow, one of the UK’s top golf resorts, where Ross McMurray has designed two courses with fabulous water features and real character. These two days getaways are ideal for first timers who may want to try a golfing holiday in the UK before booking a longer trip. These are sure to be sociable and relaxed games of golf, where everyone is welcome.
