On Saturday 5 December, The Cathedrals Express, in association with Steam Dreams, are offering passengers the chance to kick off festive celebrations in style, with a special steam hauled trip to the Carlisle Christmas Market, and you too could be on board. We’ve teamed up with The Cathedrals Express to offer a pair of Premier Dining tickets for this fabulous trip worth £418.
The lucky winner and partner will board The Cathedrals Express at London Euston at around 07:10 in time to take their seats in the elegant 1950’s and 60’s carriages to experience the golden age of travel.
The train will be diesel hauled to Yorkshire, before steam locomotive 46115 Scots Guardsman takes the burden. From then on, passengers will enjoy glorious scenery as the train makes its way north over the Shap Summit, passing spectacular snow-capped mountains, arriving in Carlisle at 12:45. They will have several hours to explore another of the UK’s best Christmas markets, before re-joining the train at 14:30 for the return journey.
The Cathedrals Express will make its way south via the world famous Settle & Carlisle Railway, taking in the impressive 24 arches that make up the breathtaking Ribblehead Viaduct as the sun starts to set. The winners will enjoy a four course meal on board, before arriving back at London Euston at around 22:40.
Tickets for this spectacular journey are available in all four classes, ranging from £115 per person in Premium Standard through to the top class of Pullman Style Dining of £249 per person.
